Our research methodology ensures reproducible, transparent Android privacy analysis.

Testing Setup

All tests are conducted on clean-installed Android devices. Network traffic is captured using mitmproxy. Permission usage is monitored through Android's built-in permission tracking.

Analysis Process

  1. Fresh Android installation on test device
  2. Install target application from Google Play Store
  3. Record initial permissions requested
  4. Monitor network traffic during first launch and typical usage
  5. Identify third-party SDKs and trackers from traffic analysis
  6. Compare privacy policy claims with observed behavior
  7. Score privacy based on findings

Privacy Score

Scores range from 0 to 10. Higher scores indicate better privacy practices. Factors include: number of trackers, data collection practices, encryption use, permission minimalism, and privacy policy transparency.
